Temple Beth Tikvah

Paul has volunteered dozens of hours in creating and maintaining the website for Temple Beth Tikvah, established in 2008 as the first Reform Jewish synagogue in Bend, Oregon. The temple's Board of Directors views the site as the temple's most important marketing tool, and asked Paul to make it both beautiful and functional. "We wanted our website to reflect our new congregation's warmth and vibrancy while also making it easy for potential members to download membership applications, view our calendar of events and order High Holy Days tickets," says Board member Ann Rosenthal. "We are thrilled with the site and have have received many compliments from new members and from our visiting clergy."

The Holy Names Heritage Center is a boutique museum and historical society in Portland, Oregon, that chronicles the long, rich history of the Sisters of the Holy Names, an order of nuns that arrives in the Pacific Northwest in 1859. The Center’s executive director, Tamara Brosseau, approached Paul to create a vibrant site that would showcase the museum’s archival photographs and cement the Center’s position as an authority in its field. Shortly after the site went live, Paul received the following e-mail from Brosseau: “I just heard from a professor in Utah who said the site was gorgeous and really easy to use. I also had a comment from the former CFO of Nike who said the site was ‘stunning. Whoever did this did one heck of a job!’”

Risk Assessment Corporation

Risk Assessment Corporation – a group of brainiac environmental scientists – came to Paul with an outdated, disorganized website that was begging for an overhaul. RAC President John E. Till, Ph.D. had commissioned a graphic designer to create a new logo and letterhead for the company and wanted Paul to design a streamlined, contemporary website that would complement the company’s new look, highlighting RAC’s technical capabilities and ongoing projects. Till told Paul he was pleased with the outcome. “It was a huge improvement over our old site – just want we wanted.”

As founder of Mazama Designs, an innovative outdoor-products development company, Matt Hoskins wanted a clean, professional, “outdoorsy” website that would compare favorably to the sites of major brands such as Pearl Izumi and Camelbak. He also wanted a design that could easily expand as he grows his product line. Paul set up an online store for Mazama and did all of the photography, including the action photos and product images. “The site gives off the perfect vibe!” Matt says.

Migima

Criminal justice consultant Marcia Morgan, Ph.D., a specialist in sexual assault and gender issues, came to Paul with an unusual quandary. She offers so many services (consulting, teaching, product sales) for so many fields (legal, social services, health) that she was having trouble organizing her material into an orderly, cohesive package. Suzanne helped Marcia restructure her content while Paul created a streamlined, friendly design and set up a shopping cart for Migima’s anatomical dolls, books and CDs. “Paul did a terrific job capturing what I do,” Marcia says. “The site is user friendly and very professional.”

Anderson Realty

The Anderson Realty team approached Paul with a challenge: how to distinguish Anderson from the hundreds of other real-estate companies in Bend. Paul’s vibrant design and photography, combined with Suzanne’s punchy wordsmithing, reflect Bend’s active lifestyle and embody the Anderson motto: “Making sure you feel at home.” In short, the site has personality. It's friendly yet professional, positioning the Anderson Realty team as “relentless and laid back at the same time.” Company co-owner Fred Anderson says clients frequently compliment him on the site. “It’s exactly what we wanted!”
Unfortunately this website has been taken down. However, you can still click on the above image to view the design.

Malibu Sculpture Exhibition

Los Angeles fine-art dealer Carl Schlosberg needed a website to promote his latest show, the 2005 Malibu Summer Sculpture Exhibition, a unique exhibit of art in public spaces. He requested a contemporary, clean, stylish site that would reflect the power and grace of the works in the exhibit, as well as the beauty of the Malibu setting. It was especially important that the site be easy to navigate, since one of Carl’s main goals was to attract media. “Several newspaper reporters have told me how impressed they are with the site,” Carl says. “I will definitely hire Paul for my future shows!”

Ron Shinkle

Weight-loss specialist Ron Shinkle came to Paul with one job in mind: a website to promote his new book, Carb Lean, Protein Strong. But after discussions with Paul and his wife, Suzanne, the Website Wordsmith, Ron realized he wanted more. The upshot: a site that showcases Ron himself — as an author, strength trainer, weight-loss coach and nutrition expert. Together, the design and copy reflect Ron’s compassion, dynamic personality and knowledge. Ron has used his site to build his personal-training business, sell his book and build his image in the Bend, Oregon, community. “I don’t know how I managed this long without it!” Ron says.

ExpressCare Medical Clinic

Dr. Samir Shahin came to Paul at a critical juncture: his Los Angeles medical clinic was expanding and competition was intensifying. “I was realizing that even my patients weren’t aware of all the services we offer,” says Dr. Shahin. Paul and Suzanne tailored the design and copy to bolster ExpressCare’s key selling point, aside from its top-quality medical care: the friendly staff and warm, welcoming atmosphere. Dr. Shahin now uses his site as a significant promotional tool. “It’s a great way to get referrals,” he says. “My patients tell their friends to look at the site.”
